L’hiver brisé / The broken winter

Un hiver pas comme les autres

Un hiver sans soleil, sans grande froidure,

Mais un hiver qui toutefois perdure,

Un hiver qu’il arrive que j’endure,

Juste un hiver pas comme les autres…

Light poles (... in Canadian winter!)

Going outside during the winter season is not popular among every people that don't really appreciate the cold and frosty feeling on their face. If you are living in a more urban area, it seems that the cold level perception is much higher may be because you are a little bit more habit to a warm inside way of life.

So, going outside will require you to be better accordingly clothed for preventing the obvious discomfort and the frost bite dangers. But winter is also a wonderful season of light mainly because of the lower angle of the sun during the shorter day period of time. Just be beware about your in-camera battery shorter life and bring with you some extras.

This series has been taken in Montreal near the Rockland Road overpass

Winter grip needed!

At the start of every winter in Montreal
(Canada) the same story is repeating itself and, here and there some (mild season's) bicycles have been surprised by the first snow fall. If lucky, their owner are able to recover them but there are always some others that are becoming orphans that ultimately be freed the next spring, usually in a very bad shape, by the municipal services. The most strange about this is that the unlucky ones  are staying "safely padlocked" all the winter season!

Black'nd Mine: An Adventure in Gray Tone.

Tone my expression in a gray world and I will be in the black of mine. Storyboard of my life is the témoignage of the despair of emotion. Click the instant desire of eternity and the full inspiration of the romantic soul.

Where are you my love, my muse, my perfect picture of the physical human art. Light is triking the edge of my insanity. And I hope some understand my deviance. That's only photoetry.

You must say something, you must show something so we want to see.

Short B&W essay with the Olympus OM-D E-M5

Black and white photography has been the classical way of doing light imaging right from the start of this new pictorial "art". And I have followed the same path since my modest debut with a Kodak Brownie 620 film camera.

The best definition of the mastering this art has been described, analyzed and practiced by Ansel Adams as he have extendedly explain in his book trilogy: the Camera, the Film and the Print.

I will not pretend approaching Ansel Adams artistic ability but I think that if you are doing good black and white pictures it can improve deeply your entire photographic skill even in color.

Here are some recent works with the Olympus OM-D E-M5. All pictures files are originally done in black and white.
